Quit Smoking Support - Withdrawals

Quit Smoking Support

Quit smoking support is hard to find and even harder to give. However, in order for you to take advantage of quit smoking support you will have to understand certain fundamentals that quit smoking support basis its logic. For instance, in order to quit smoking tobacco, you must understand how tobacco affects your body and how your body responds to these effects. The first thing we will discuss is something many people who have attempted to quit smoking experience, this is called “withdrawal”:

Withdrawal
A withdrawal is a definable illness that occurs with a cessation or decrease in drug use after the body has adjusted to the presence of a drug to such as degree that it cannot function without the drug.

If you have ever tried to quit smoking before, you have probably experienced a withdrawal such as feeling stressed, jittery, itch, sweaty, etc. Withdrawal is an area many smokers look for in quit smoking support, because for some it is the hardest hump to overcome. One technique to quit smoking by overcoming withdrawals that I find very effective is something I call Preoccupancy:

Preoccupancy
Withdrawal tends to be overwhelming because people who attempt to quit smoking continually attend to the idea that in order to quit smoking one will have to undergo pain. This, I assure you, is not the case. Pain caused by withdrawals due to nicotine vary in intensities and can be reduced in intensity if you do not continually focus on the withdrawal. If you think about “pain” you may endure during withdrawal then you are more likely to experience that pain. It is not the intensity of the withdrawal that hurts you; it is the intensity you THINK the withdrawal has that hurts you.

This being said you should try to preoccupy yourself with something that requires a great deal of attention, thereby redirecting your attention from withdrawals to another stimulus. Some tasks that involve higher forms of attention resources are:

-Playing video games
-Playing a musical instrument
-Doing a puzzle such as Sudoku
-Exercising

Although you will reduce many symptoms of withdrawal, you many not eliminate them all. This is because withdraws caused by cigarette smoking is due to a physical addiction, which can be increased in intensity due to an accompanied psychological addiction. There are, however, various books from psychologists and medical doctors that offer advice on completely eliminating withdrawal as well as craving, such as Easyquit System.

Try your best not to give into withdrawal, if you do it will become increasingly harder to tolerate withdrawals. This is because a drug withdrawal has the ability to make a person more likely to continue the use of a drug after a period of abstaining. There are many studies that show that relief from withdrawal is a powerful motivator of drug use. By this I mean, when drug withdrawal begins the level of the drug in the blood drops. However, if the user takes the drug at this point the withdrawal symptoms are relived. Nevertheless, the motivating force becomes the “turning off” of the unpleasant symptoms caused by withdrawal that leads the user to adopt a lifestyle of smoking – withdrawal – smoking again – withdrawal, etc.

It’s hard to quit smoking, but it is very possible and there are millions of people who do. Quit smoking support will help you create that new life you have wanted for so long. The first step is overcoming the early withdrawal symptoms. Remember, pain is temporary, but quitting lasts forever.
